AI Assistant Disclaimer

Patcher may use artificial intelligence and other automated systems for two separate user-requested features: explaining a user-confirmed deterministic material estimate and analyzing a user-confirmed damage-assessment photo set.

AI-generated output can be wrong. It may contain factual errors, incomplete instructions, outdated assumptions, image-interpretation errors, or guidance that is not appropriate for your exact product, property, weather, or pavement condition.

1. AI is not a professional or emergency service

Patcher's AI features are not a:

• contractor;
• civil/structural engineer;
• pavement inspector;
• utility-locating service;
• traffic-control professional;
• product manufacturer;
• code official;
• emergency service; or
• substitute for an on-site evaluation.

Using an AI feature does not create a professional-services relationship with Patcher or the AI provider.

2. AI is the lowest-priority guidance source

When information conflicts, use this order:

1. emergency directions, law, utilities, and public-authority instructions;
2. recall/stop-use notices and the exact product's current label, SDS, TDS, and manufacturer/supplier instructions;
3. Patcher's deterministic safety stops and verified product-specific workflow;
4. other verified Patcher documentation; and
5. AI-generated output.

AI output may not override a higher-priority source or a Patcher STOP / PROFESSIONAL EVALUATION state.

If an AI response conflicts, is unclear, or appears unsafe, do not follow it.

3. Limits of estimate explanations

An AI estimate explanation receives only an allowlisted text and numeric summary of the estimate after you request the explanation and give feature-specific permission. Patcher does not send the estimate explainer a photo, raw scan, point cloud, location, address, free-form scan diagnostics, or payment information.

The AI explains relationships among facts already produced by Patcher's deterministic calculator. It does not calculate or change quantities, estimate status, uncertainty reasons, required follow-up actions, product eligibility, checkout eligibility, or safety states. The app's displayed deterministic estimate remains controlling if the AI feature is unavailable or its response is rejected.

4. Limits of image analysis

A user-confirmed damage-assessment photo set may help classify visible damage and, only when it includes readable physical scale and depth references, support deterministic material-quantity input. Uncalibrated views cannot support checkout quantity. Images cannot reliably establish hidden/subsurface conditions and must not be treated as proof of:

• base or subgrade stability;
• structural adequacy;
• utility location;
• drainage performance;
• compaction density;
• material chemistry/contamination;
• code or accessibility compliance;
• future durability; or
• long-term repair success.

5. AI must not invent product specifications

Do not rely on AI to guess:

• coverage/yield;
• lift/application thickness;
• curing or reopening time;
• temperature or moisture limits;
• PPE or handling requirements;
• storage/disposal requirements;
• compatibility with another material;
• warranty terms;
• recall status; or
• structural conclusions.

Those facts must come from a current verified source for the exact product. If Patcher does not have a verified source, the safe answer is that the information is not verified and you should not proceed based on a guess.

6. Stop-work conditions

Do not use AI to justify continuing work involving:

• live traffic or public-road/right-of-way conditions;
• suspected utilities or hidden infrastructure;
• widespread cracking, settlement, heaving, edge collapse, or unstable base;
• unresolved drainage or flowing water;
• unusually deep, extensive, recurrent, changing, or uncertain failure;
• a leaking, damaged, mislabeled, recalled, contaminated, or unsafe product;
• an injury, exposure, spill, or emergency; or
• another condition that the Patcher safety workflow routes to professional/public-authority evaluation.

7. Verify before acting

Before acting on AI output, compare it with the exact product instructions and the visible site condition. Stop when the answer depends on information the AI cannot reliably know.

You remain responsible for deciding whether you are legally authorized, properly equipped, and able to perform the work safely, subject to Patcher's legal responsibilities that cannot be waived.

8. No guarantee of AI accuracy or outcome

Patcher does not guarantee that AI output is accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, or suitable for your site. AI output does not guarantee repair success, service life, safety, code compliance, quantity accuracy, or product suitability.

This does not waive liability or consumer rights that applicable law says cannot be waived.

9. Third-party AI processing and privacy

Patcher uses OpenAI as a third-party AI service provider for certain user-requested AI functions. Before Patcher first sends content for the applicable feature to OpenAI, the website or app discloses the sharing and asks for permission.

If you proceed, Patcher sends only the allowlisted estimate summary or confirmed photos and measurement/product context reasonably needed for the requested function. Estimate-explanation requests use the allowlisted summary described above and are configured with provider application-state storage disabled. A short-lived Patcher idempotency cache may retain the validated explanation for up to 24 hours so a retry does not create another provider request; expired entries are purged and account deletion removes entries keyed to that account. Private damage-assessment photos and results are retained by Patcher for up to 30 days. The Patcher Privacy Policy explains those paths and provider retention limitations. Disabling provider application-state storage does not mean every provider safety or legal retention period is zero.

Do not include payment-card data, passwords, authentication links, unnecessary personal information, or another person's private information in photos selected for analysis.

10. Report unsafe or inaccurate output

If an AI response appears unsafe, materially inaccurate, or inconsistent with current product documentation, stop relying on it and report it to info@patcher.me.
